Wellness exams

Picture
No matter what life stage your pet is in we are here to care for them, and a wellness exam does just that. We perform a complete physical exam from head to toe. Checking for any abnormalities, heartworms, parasites, and updating vaccinations. We prefer to see you and your pets at least once a year to further your education and help prevent illness. We also encourage yearly blood work to help prevent underlying illnesses. Our basic wellness tests consists of basic blood tests, SDMA, heartworm, feline herpes, and fecal testing. Our advanced panel includes all of the basic plus urine and thyroid testing. Our wellness tests are for both canines and felines of all ages.

On-Line & In-House Pharmacy

Picture
Whether we're treating something new, or you're refilling a prescription, we can take care of it at our in house pharmacy. We carry a variety of flea, tick and heartworm prevention, along with everyday pharmaceuticals your veterinarian has prescribed.
Prefer to have it shipped? Our on-line pharmacy does just that. You can get any prescription refilled, preventatives such as flea & tick or heartworm, or prescription diets sent right to your door.  Our on-line pharmacy also has an option for auto ship and auto refill.

Spaying & Neutering

Picture
Our team is highly trained in all aspects of surgeries along with monitoring their vitals throughout. We use the strictest standards of sterilization, cleanliness, safety and care. A very common procedure for pets is to spay or neuter. Early spaying or neutering of your pets around 6 months of age can help protect them from major health concerns later in life as well as behavioral problems. But its okay if you miss that time line, spaying or neutering can also be done at an adult age. Better late than never!  Unwanted litters of puppies or kittens can often be a result and shelters nationwide are at the mercy of that. Over population is a serious problem and responsible pet owners can help prevent it!

Socialization Visits

Picture
Just like us, pets need to socialize and make friends and get used to being around people other than their owners. A well trained and well behaved pet can make wonderful companionship for many people. We offer socialization visits by appointment. A social visit means coming to hang out with the staff in our building for a set amount of time. This might be sitting with our receptionists, or walking around with one of the assistants and visiting all parts of the clinic. This ensures that your pet has a positive veterinary experience. We want your animal to be stress free and less anxious when visiting us. What we offer is minimal but we also have many outside resources for additional behavioral services should that be of your interest.

Routine Vaccinations

Picture
Vaccines are products designed to trigger protective immune responses and prepare the immune system to fight future infections from disease-causing agents. Vaccines stimulate the immune system's production of antibodies that identify and destroy disease-causing organisms that enter the body.
Vaccines provide immunity against one or several diseases that can lessen the severity or prevent certain diseases altogether.
Vaccinations not only help to prevent illnesses but can also help avoid costly treatments that can be prevented. Vaccinations prevent diseases that can be passed between animals, especially wildlife to unvaccinated pets, and also from animals to people.
The top diseases we vaccinate for are:
  • Rabies
  • Canine Parvovirus/distemper/lepto
  • Canine adenovirus -2
  • Feline distemper/herpesvirus-1
  • Feline leukemia
  • Canine kennel cough

In-House Diagnostics Lab

Picture
We offer a wide variety of testing for your pets health needs. Being able to perform diagnostics in our clinic provides us with quick information about any health problems that could be underlying in your pet. Whether something routine or of concern, we offer the following:
  • Presurgical bloodwork
  • Routine bloodwork
  • Urinalysis
  • Fecal testing
  • Parasite testing
  • Cytology
  • Thyroid testing
We also have the ability to utilize some of the nation's top veterinary laboratories for any testing we cannot perform in our clinic.

Dentistry & Oral Surgery

Picture
A common misconception is that animals' dental health is not important. But really, pets need dental work too. Dental health and routine maintenance is a vital part of your pet's life. This will help to prevent infections which can enter their blood stream and affect their liver, kidney, and cardiac functions. A basic yearly cleaning can keep your animal's mouth healthy and help to avoid more severe dental work such as extractions. Dental health starts at home with a healthy diet and treats/toys that are proactive at keeping their teeth and mouths in healthy condition. We offer a range of dental services including:
  • scaling (teeth cleaning)
  • surgical extractions (pulling an infected or broken tooth)
  • radiographs (x-rays)
Some signs of dental disease are bad breath, loose, broken or missing teeth, painful to the touch or when eating, discoloration of teeth, inflamed red gums, swollen face, and excessive drooling. If you notice any of these signs, its time to schedule an oral appointment.

Orthopedic & Soft Tissue Surgery

Picture
Surgery is not always a wanted procedure, but sometimes it is necessary. At some point in your pets life, they may require a surgical procedure whether it be elective or emergency surgery.  Our staff is highly trained and will provide the best care possible for your pet. Our team of technicians and doctors are highly trained in all aspects of surgeries along with monitoring their vitals throughout. We use the strictest standards of sterilization, cleanliness, safety and care. A thorough physical exam is always performed before any surgery to ensure that your animal is a capable candidate for anesthesia.
We offer the following surgical procedures:
  • Pinning/Plating Fractured limbs/amputation
  • Cruciate ligament repair
  • Abdominal Exploratory/obstructions
  • Bladder surgery
  • Cesarean
  • Biopsies and tumor removal

Ultrasonography

Picture
Typically when you think of ultrasound, you think of a pregnancy diagnosis, but ultrasounding can provide so much more than just a pregnancy confirmation.Ultrasound provides a moving 'real time' image of your animal's inside anatomy. This allows proper assessment of the movement of all internal organs. Unlike x-rays, ultrasound uses sound waves rather than radiation to obtain an image. We utilize this diagnostic tool when searching for internal abnormalities or masses on organs, including the liver, spleen, gallbladder, and kidneys, bladder scanning, and of course confirming pregnancies.

Digital Radiography

Picture
Digital radiography, or x-rays as most know it, allow our veterinary team to look inside the entire body of your pet, whether for a possible fractured bone or an internal issue. We are fortunate to use digital radiography over conventional. Digital versus conventional gives us a clearer image with remarkable quality and detail.  This gives us the opportunity to accurately diagnose and treat your animals. For a second opinion or confirmation, we can email radiographs to referral services if necessary.

Therapeutic Laser

Nutrition & Weight Management

Picture
Laser Therapy is a therapeutic approach to treating pain, inflammation, edema and wounds. Laser therapy in conjunction with other medical treatments can accelerate tissue repair, improve vascular activity, increase wound healing, reduce pain and inflammation, and improve nerve function. We use this treatment for postoperative healing, arthritis and pain management (shoulder, hip, knee, & back), soft tissue trauma, injuries, deep edema, nerve regeneration, non healing wounds, chronic anal glands, and many other applications as well.

Picture
Talking about your pet's weight can sometimes be a tough subject. Our veterinarians are here to help you find the best diet for your pet. Not all animals are the same and some require different diets. We offer several different types of dog and cat food at our clinic, along with specialty diets. Fueling your animal with the proper diet can keep their skin/coat, heart, and intestinal tract healthy all year long. We recommend measuring the amount and how often your pet eats, not just filling the bowl and letting it sit all day. Treats are a great training tool but they should only make up 10% of your pet's daily calories. Your pet's weight isn't all about diet though. Just like us, pets need exercise too. Getting into a routine of walks, playing, or what ever type of movement you do is just as important as what you feed them. Combining both diet and exercise will keep your pet's heart healthy and their mind sharp.

Microchipping

Picture
Microchipping is not a mandatory procedure but it is highly encouraged. A microchip is a small, electronic chip enclosed in a glass cylinder that is about the same size as a grain of rice. The chip is placed between your pet's shoulder blades under the skin. When a scanner is passed over the area, radiowaves put out by the scanner activate the chip and an identification number is displayed by the scanner. Microchip implantation provides a reliable, and often less painful, method of permanent, unalterable animal identification. The primary benefit of microchip implantation in pets is the increased chance of reunification of lost or stolen animals with their owners. Studies have determined that the owners of almost three-fourths of lost, microchipped cats and dogs were located due to the presence of the microchip. Owners were more likely to be found for dogs, purebred animals and spayed/neutered animals and the rate of return to owners was also higher for microchipped stray animals.

Hospitalization/Intensive Care

Picture
Pets can get sick just as we can, and sometimes that means having to stay over night, or even several nights  at our hospital. Hospitalization sounds intense but this allows us to further monitor and provide necessary medical care. Your pet may need intravenous fluid therapy and medications throughout their stay. Our skilled veterinarians will perform any necessary diagnostics, provide a treatment plan and include an estimated cost for your pets care. These services include:
  •      Diagnostics; blood work, urinalysis, and imaging
  •      Fluid therapy
  •      Intravenous therapeutics
  •      Oxygen Therapy/cage
  •      Blood transfusions
  •      Pain management
When your pet does have to stay with us, our goal is to get them back to you healthy and as quickly as possible!

Hospice/End of Life Care

Picture
Our animals become a part of our family from many years of loyal companionship and love. Thinking about your animal's final days is a difficult and emotional decision. It is a personal and private decision, but know that our compassionate caring team is here to be with you during that time and to answer any questions or doubts you may have. We encourage you to be with your pet during this difficult time and make the transition stress free and peaceful. Sometimes an in-home visit is the best way to achieve this for all involved. If you would like to spend this time at home, we provide house calls so you and your pet can be as comfortable as possible.
Cremation
Taking the time to plan can be challenging, but may lessen the stress and pain for you. We offer cremation services if that is an option you are interested in when the time comes. All remains are presented in velvet bags with a paw imprint of your pet. Urns and decorative pieces are available as well.
